IDB Graduates Association of Tanzania (IDB-GAT) is an association established by the University graduates who benefited from scholarship program provided by Islamic Development Bank (IDB) through its Counterpart Organization (CPO) in Tanzania known as Tanzania Muslim Solidarity Trust Fund (TMSTF).

The IDB-GAT was officially registered by the registrar of societies under the Ministry of Home Affair on 2nd June 2010 with the following objectives:

  1. Coordinate communication and strengthen the relations and value of brotherhood among its members and other affiliates;
  2. Promote information sharing and cooperation among members;
  3. Look after the welfare of its members by extending services and develop their understanding on matters related to their professionalism and Islam;
  4. Plan/ develop and implement suitable Community Development Projects;
  5. Coordinate and cooperate with other professional, governmental and Non-governmental associations, locally and internationally, involve in development of needy and poor community;
  6. Enhance economic, social and spiritual welfare of the Muslim Community.

The IDB-GAT since its establishment has conducted several community development activities in collaboration with other Islamic NGOs like TAMPRO, ISHIK Foundation and Rehema Foundation which include Mobile clinic, Malaria awareness campaign, slaughtering and distribution of food to orphans.

Community Development Activities

The IDB-GAT has planned to conduct four mobile clinics during the month of Ramadhan in four different locations. In these mobile clinics people will be checked their blood pressure, blood sugar and treatment on common diseases. The eye care services and health education will also be provided.

Message from the Chairman

Islamic Development Bank Graduates Association of Tanzania (IDB-GAT) with its structure arrangement was established by the beneficiaries of Islamic Development Bank scholarship in 2010, to facilitate the management, development and solidarity of communities in the country. The organisation development objective is to capacitate and strengthen member group and communities in Tanzania in improving their economic activities and accessing health and education services.

This effort is in line with the country National Development Policy. The ultimate objective is to attain the Millennium Development Goals and targets of the National Strategy for Growth and Poverty Reduction – MKUKUTA. The organisation is financed through two distinct funding mechanisms; a ‘basket fund’ that uses common financing from members and non-members contribution and ‘earmarked’ financing arrangements where funds directed to specific projects or activities.
